Diffusion Pumps

A Diffusion Pump is an air-cooled, gas jet vacuum pump. The pump operates by boiling silicone and channeling the vapors through a hollow cone.

This process creates what is known as a "gas jet".  In practice, diffusion pumps allow you to achieve lower pressure for more precise fractionation.
